In the heart of Chianti, in Calcinaia (FI), a kitchen comes to life that tells a story of antique materials, reclaimed pieces, and artisanal creativity. The focal point of this space is a military iron drawer unit—an original element around which all the other furnishings have been developed.

Every detail has been carefully designed to create a balance between functionality and comfort, blending new components with reclaimed materials. The chestnut drawer frames, oxidized brass inserts, and bold yet never overpowering tones transform the kitchen into a space where time can be enjoyed to the fullest.

The island: creativity and reclaimed materials
The central island is generously sized and showcases the ingenuity of our artisan workshop. Among the reclaimed elements, an old office filing cabinet has been transformed into a wine storage unit, becoming the inspiring core of the entire design. The front in corrugated metal and the four columns with a rusted metal effect complete the composition, giving it a strong character while maintaining harmony.

The pantry: sustainability and bespoke design
The pantry is a masterpiece of craftsmanship and sustainability. Its iron structure houses panels made from reclaimed wood found in the house: cypress, chestnut, oak, and pine intertwine in unique patterns, while the 16 linear meters of shelving ensure functionality. The old cypress door, enhanced with glass and mirror inserts, protects the interior and adds a touch of history.

Lighting: one-of-a-kind handmade pieces
The lighting also tells a story. The lamp above the island was crafted in our workshop using the flywheel of an antique forage chopper, a traditional agricultural tool typical of rural homes. The two lamps above the worktop, featuring hand-turned brass shades made by a local artisan, complete the space: oxidation, painting, and decorative finishes are all carried out in our workshop. Brass elements reclaimed from old barrel closures are used to secure the lamps, concealing the electrical connections while adding an authentic detail.
