If you’re passionate about vintage and unique objects, you probably know the beauty of old refrigerators. But what happens when these objects, despite their charm, become old and non-functional? This is where restoration comes into play.
Here is the story of an old 1960s refrigerator that we had the pleasure of restoring, modifying it aesthetically and functionally in some parts, to allow it to return to new life.
Let’s start with the main problem: the wooden panels of the doors had been damaged by time and use, and were no longer able to maintain the internal temperature. We decided to replace them with appropriate double-glazed glass, while still maintaining the original look of the piece.
But we didn’t stop there: the original interior light was not powerful enough to best highlight the contents of the refrigerator. We therefore decided to replace it with a modern natural light LED bar, capable of evenly illuminating the entire interior of the unit.
The end result was amazing. The refrigerator returned to new life, with a perfect combination of vintage appearance and modern efficiency. It became a unique and original piece, capable of attracting the attention of anyone who sees it.
But why restore an object like this? The answer is simple: because it has a historical and emotional value that is priceless. A refrigerator like this contains within it the history of an era, a way of living and working. Restoring it means preserving its memory and enhancing its beauty.
