Cucina industrial design

The starting elements for the design of this kitchen built for the Vicolabate farmhouse, were the iron boxes. They come from an old mechanical workshop and have been the guideline for the style of work. We had to use them but in the right way: making them protagonists. They have become the focal point of the entire kitchen.

Create spaces

To create the hob area, the corner of the wall was changed during the renovation of the building, so as to have a side at 45 degrees.

The materials

The whole structure is in solid recovery wood. Some elements, such as the plinth and the drawer under the oven, are iron materials from an old factory, adapted and cleaned (enough). The edges of the top and the doors, as well as the hood, are in old galvanized sheet.

 

The accessories

On the sides of the hob, in order to exploit the dead corners that are always created in this type of furniture, two recessed compartments have been created; one to store oil, vinegar and more for cooking; the other, closed by a lid, houses the cutting boards. The sink, one of our projects, is handcrafted in galvanized iron. The hanging tray is made of galvanized iron tubular. Of course all the metal parts made from scratch by our locksmith have been treated to create the patinas.

 

A particular note: the discharge of the water being visible, could not remain in plastic color. It has been treated in such a way as to create the sensation of rusty iron. In all this architecture we could not put modern lights and we opted for an old motorcycle headlight and an industrial lamp from the twenties. In this environment we have not only created the kitchen but the whole room has been designed and created in our shop.
